Muses
A page dedicated to those who bring me inspiration and motivation to create. That “thing” that feeds my soul and brings me a sense of gratitude for the gifts and talents every individual brings, whether it be an, artist, poet, author, musician etc. I will be adding and updating here frequently. May what inspires me bring something to you as well…🤍
At the age of 18, I discovered the amazing photographer, Sally Mann. I was strolling through a bookstore and spotted one of her books. Her images instantly spoke to me in a way photographs hadn’t yet. There was something haunting yet beautiful to them. She wasn’t just simply taking a photo but capturing and creating something beyond. I hadn’t known the difference before that point of how looking at one type of photograph gave an appreciation for the simple beauty and composition vs how looking at a photograph that stirred something within. That stirring I like to refer to as my soul side. It is so utterly detached from my mind, at least in my personal perspective. I think I knew in that moment…photography was going to take me down a different path. It would take some time of course and be a constantly evolving art as I also evolved. This is simply life. We discover ourselves along the way and I’ve learned over the years that those self discoveries are a constant…
“If it doesn’t have ambiguity, don’t bother to take it. I love that, that aspect of photography—the mendacity of photography—it’s got to have some kind of peculiarity in it or it’s not interesting to me.” – Sally Mann
